He didn’t pass away, and he didn’t expire. No…comedian, author and actor George Carlin died of a heart attack early this morning in Los Angeles. His list of credits is numerous, and although some people think he’s “most famous” for his “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television”, for me, it was his crankiness in later years that was the most enjoyable.

In his HBO specials, for instance, he’d go on at great length about the stupidity of people, giving examples ranging from bad driving to ridiculous, stupid beliefs and childhood dares.

“Swear on your mother’s grave?”, Carlin recounted another kid once asking him. “Ok!” he exclaimed with a shrug. “First of all, my mother wasn’t dead. Second, even if she was, what was she gonna do? Come out of the grave and HAUNT me just because I told a lie to some idiot eight-year-old?”

Watching him or listening to him for even a few minutes, it was obvious that he was a very, very smart guy, and one who could make you laugh even if he was making fun of ideals and beliefs you hold dear. Rest in peace, Mr. Carlin.
