Level 6 - Diving Area Text Version This walkthru is text only and presented in its entirety. If you don't want to spoil later events in this level, don't scroll down any further than what you want to read. Click on a step number to go the graphical page for that step.
1 - You start the level where you ended in Offshore Rig…fortunately, your supply of weapons and equipment is intact. Make your way up the stairs… 2 - …but don't fall into the water below or you'll get sucked into the big fan. Instead, do a running grab jump across to the ladder. 3 - Climb to the top and follow the hallway. 4 - Push the button at the end of the tunnel to shut off the big fan. 5 - Run back down the hallway and dive into the water below. 6 - Swim past the fan into the tunnel…you can actually swim right through the fan blades! 7 - Follow the tunnel into the smaller tunnel straight ahead. Don't dilly dally around…remember that oxygen stuff? 8 - Swim all the way to the end and pick up the grenades. 9 - Swim back out of the tunnel…get some air if you're getting low…and pull the lever on the left wall. 10 - Climb out of the water and run to the left into the room you just opened, with your guns blazing. Take out the guys on this side of the pool first, then shoot whoever is within your range on the far side of the pool. 11 - Grab any goodies, then line yourself up with the first platform with the crane sliding back and forth over it. 12 - Do a grab jump across, shimmy over to the right, and pull yourself up. This will leave you out of the way of the crane hook. 13 - Turn to the left and when the crane hook slides out of the way… 14 - ...do a running grab jump across to the second platform (if you miss, you can swim out through a tunnel and try again). 15 - Turn right and do a running jump across to the far side of the pool. 16 - Shoot any unlucky souls who are still alive over here and grab their stuff. 17 - Run into the next room and position Lara so she's facing the hole in the big sloped floor. Turn around and hop backwards, causing Lara to slide down and land in the hole (if you don't turn around first, you'll slide right over it).
19 - Your next move is tricky…climb out of the front of the hole. When Lara gets to the very edge of the sloped floor… 20 - …do a roll jump, flipping Lara around in mid-air… 21 - …causing her to land squarely on the platform on the other side. It is possible to do a normal forward jump across, but your timing has to be even more precise. 22 - Run left to the doorway. 23 - And you'll come to a really tall ladder…so tall, in fact, that the camera shows you this shot from way up high. 24 - Climb up the ladder and drop off into the hallway at the top. Run into the next room and drop into the hole. 25 - Hold down the Action button so that Lara will grab the edge of the big ramp. 26 - The platform just below is your destination, so let go of the ramp edge… 27 - …and press and hold Action again quickly to grab the edge of the platform. A nice man will start shooting at you. 28 - Return the favor, of course. 29 - Now run down the catwalk to the left and look for a small opening in the railing on the left side. 30 - Down in the hole below is a Blue Pass Card you'll need to leave the room. Do a forward jump across toward the hole. 31 - You'll land on the sloped wall and slide down into the hole. Grab the Blue Pass Card. 32 - Run out of the hole down into the bottom of the room, turn to the left and jump up into the air vent in the wall. 33 - Follow the vent all the way back to that darned tall ladder. Do a running jump across, climb back up, run into the room, drop in the hole, slide down the ramp and drop down to the platform you were on just a minute ago. Got it? 34 - This time, though, with Blue Pass Card in hand, run down the catwalk to the right. 35 - Use the card in the card reader to open the door. 36 - Run through the two doors into a big square hallway with a room in the middle. 37 - Turn to the left, arm your Automatic Pistols, and start running. As soon as you get to the corner, a pack of dogs will attack you. What you can't see around the corner yet is the guy with the flamethrower who wants to toast you. 38 - Kill the dogs and quickly do a sideways jump to the right, out of the way of the flamethrower guy. Side jump back around the corner and keep shooting him til he bites the dust. 39 - Keep following the square hallway around until you get to a door with a hatch wheel on it. Turn the wheel to open the door. 40 - With your guns still out, run down the hallway into the mechanical room, and shoot the thug you find there. 41 - There's a moveable crate next to the lower of the two closed doors. Push it away from the door to reveal a control panel that is not currently functioning. 42 - Dive into the pool and swim down to where a narrow tunnel leads off to one side. Start swimming down the tunnel to attract the attention of a SCUBA guy with a harpoon gun. As soon as you see him, turn around, swim back up and climb out of the water. 43 - Get your trusty pistolas out and blow him away. 44 - Jump back in the water and take a deep breath (and save your game)…you've got a lot to do in those tunnels down there and you have to do it all with one breath of air. Swim into the tunnel and follow it past two metal grates. Note that there is some weird buggy thing near the grates that makes it difficult to swim past them. Try sticking close to the floor. 45 - Pull the lever on the wall at the end of the tunnel, then turn around and begin swimming back to the grates. 46 - Swim into the grate that is now on your right that you just opened and follow that tunnel. 47 - Pull the next lever you come to and continue through the tunnel. 48 - Swim out through the second grate, again, sticking close to the floor, turn left into the original tunnel and swim back into the pool where you can swim up to the surface for some air. 49 - Climb out of the water and go up the hallway that you entered the room through. 50 - When you get back to the square hallway, turn to the left and follow it around… 51 - …until you come to a second hatch doorway that you need to open. Run up the stairs inside the door. 52 - At the top of the stairs is a bigger hallway that leads to a helicopter pad. Get your guns out and start shooting the thugs who are guarding the area. 53 - You can shoot at the helicopter all you want, but it's still going to take off. 54 - Continue on to the next room. 55 - Here you'll find a long hallway with two flame grates in it. There are two things you need from the hallway: The machine chip for the panel you uncovered downstairs, and the M-16 rifle. 56 - Throw the switch on the right to turn off the first flame, then do a sideways jump to the left to put you in front of the hallway. 57 - After you cross the first flame grate, a trap door will open. Fall into the hole. 58 - Turn around, walk right up to the wall, and grab the M-16. Climb out of the hole and get the heck out of the hallway before the flame comes on. 59 - Now for the really tricky part. Throw the right switch, do two sideways jumps to the left, push the button, run down the hallway, jumping over the trap door, and grab the machine chip at the end of the hall. Then turn around and get back out before the flames turn back on. 60 - Run all the way back downstairs, into the mechanical room, and put the machine chip into the control panel. 61 - Draw your guns and start to walk down the corridor you just opened up. There are two guards waiting down in the next room, one of whom has a flamethrower. Kill him quick or you're baked, not fried. 62 - Once the two guys are history run across to the brighter-than-usual control panel, which opens up revealing a small hallway. Run down to the end… 63 - …and push the button on the wall that opens a trap door to the Jade Dragon Statue. 64 - Run out the hallway and jump into the pool.
66 - Time to bait another couple of frogmen. Swim into the hexagonal tunnel until you get close to the bend. Again, as soon as you see the first harpoon gunner, turn around and swim back to the pool. 67 - (you can try to shoot the frogmen at close range, but the camera will get really wild and fly all over the place - plus, it's nearly impossible to actually hit your targets with the harpoon gun when you're that close) 68 - So swim back to the pool, climb out and blast away at the two guys from the relative safety of the higher ground (and with faster weapons) 69 - Swim back into the hexagonal tunnel and follow it until you emerge in a large pool. 70 - If you go down, you'll find a yellow submarine (no, not that one), but you can't do anything with it, so head up and to the right… 71 - …where you'll find just one spot on the ledge surrounding the pool that's low enough to climb out onto. 72 - Hop up onto the ledge, draw your guns, whip around and shoot the two guys running around on the other side of the pool. 73 - Turn around again and climb up into a little alcove. Pull the big switch to open the control room door back in the mechanical room. 74 - Pulling the switch also makes another frogman appear in the pool. Shoot him from here to save your precious harpoons. 75 - Then jump into the pool and swim back the way you came. 76 - Run back to the mechanical room, but be ready for the two guards that have been unleased as a result of your opening the control room door. 77 - Yes, these guys actually did drop stuff, even if their bodies are partially obscured by various bits of the room. 78 - Run up the metal stairs into the control room you recently opened. 79 - Then flip the small switch on the wall. 80 - Throwing that switch caused the cement slab on the crane hook to move closer to the side of the pool you're on…close enough that you can jump over and grab it. 81 - Jump off of the slab across to the other side of the pool, where a nasty sawblade seems to perform no other function than to keep you from picking up the Red Pass Card lying on the floor. Don't bother trying to get it…you can't. 82 - Climb up onto the crates in the corner behind the buzzsaw. 83 - And drop down into the hole behind them. 84 - Push the button on the wall that you find here. 85 - Swim back across the pool and go out the door on the left, back up to the square hallway. Run to the left and back through the second hatch door. 86 - Take out a pooch on the way up the stairs and get ready for some more action. 87 - Shoot the guards and proceed into the helicopter landing pad area. 88 - That last button you pressed raised the helicopter pad up on a huge hydraulic lift, closing the roof…and opening a hole in the floor. 89 - From the high vantage point, shoot the mutt below, then drop down into the hole. 90 - Run into the corridor that exits out one side… 91 - …and drop into the Central Control Room. There are two more guards here and, yes, one of them has a flamethrower. Dispose of them quickly. 92 - Pick up the machine chip that one of them was carrying. 93 - Then run out the door (which opens automagically) 94 - Run back down to the mechanical room, jump across on the cement slab and insert the machine chip into the control panel on the wall behind the buzzsaw. 95 - Ahh…the sweet sound of no buzzsaw… 96 - Grab the Red Pass Card. 97 - Run back up to the Central Control Room (you can enter through the door that opened when you left there a minute ago) 98 - Use the Red Pass Card in the card reader next to the door in the middle of the room. 99 - Get out your guns, walk thru the door and up to the edge of the hole in the floor. From here, you can shoot a guard below. 100 - When he's a goner, drop down and run into the pool room (you were here before on the opposite, tiny ledge…the submarine's at the bottom of this pool). If the guards you killed earlier are not embedded in the slanted walls, pick up their stuff. 101 - Otherwise, run all the way around to the last set of air tanks and pick up the harpoons on the ground. 102 - Run down the long, slanting corridor that leads out of the pool room. 103 - Go through the door and drop into the water below. 104 - Continue in and out of the water through this passageway, until you hear some voices…listen to what they're saying… 105 - ...then continue on when you hear somebody getting the living daylights beaten out of him. 106 - This hallway's very long, but there's nothing going on here, so keep going (and going, and going) 107 - You eventually come to a room with some catwalks and two guards. There's also somebody lying on the floor, below…but for now, concentrate on killing the guards. 108 - Follow the stairs down and head towards the open door, making sure to stay clear of the person lying on the floor.
110 - Exit the room and walk over to the person lying on the floor. Sit back and watch the in-game movie play out. And by the way, no, there is no secret code that lets you watch Lara change into her wetsuit. |
