Magical Mystery Tour Box text: "On the heels of Beatles' first two successful films, A Hard Day's Night and Help!, came Magical Mystery Tour. Produced and directed by the Beatles themselves, the tour in question is a psychedelic bus trip around the English countryside where all is not what it seems and magic is everywhere. So get on the bus with the Beatles and a colorful cast of interesting fellow travelers for an afternoon of comedy, music, competition, magic and even romance! As an added bonus, the Magical Mystery Tour digital video disc features a history of the project and insightful newsreels that recapture the mood of the day." Features
Third Beatles DVD Not Up To Par with First Two Originally conceived of as BBC broadcast (made for TV movie) directed by Paul McCartney and shown in B&W, this film was a flop when it first appeared in Britain. A chaotic assemblage of non-sequiters, the film has not improved a lick since its initial release (except it is now in color). As far as the DVD presentation is concerned, it does not stand up to the currently available laserdisc edition. In comparison, the DVD is washed out and with many noticeable areas of artifacting. Review by Peter Sills Text and original graphics © 1998 Net Specialists.
