Well, we thought it was pretty cool when GM told Uncle Sammy that they didn’t need that other $2 billion earmarked for them.

But now the general has another costly headache on its hands. GM’s announced a recall of 277,000 vehicles that possibly have a loose clip on their transmission shift cable that would cause the car to not actually be in park and, you know, maybe roll away or something. Which is bad.

The recall affects the Buick Enclave, Chevy Cobalt, HHR, Malibu and Traverse, the GMC Acadia, the Pontiac G5 and G6, and the Saturn Aura and Outlook.

This seems like an awfully big “oops” to me, kinda like how, for about 20 years or so, you could almost always count on GM’s cars to overheat in the summer cuz they just couldn’t seem to wrap their heads around how to make a fan work right.
