Ok, let’s get right to it…this is the last of the three viewer-voting rounds leading into Season 8’s Top 12. Keep reading after the clicky thingie…

Von Smith – (You’re All I Need to Get By by Marvin Gaye) He’s got a good voice but I felt like I was listening to Wham! There was something very ’80s about the performance. Good ’80s, but still ’80s.

Taylor Vaifanua – (If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys) – She’s got such a big, powerful voice, although it’s a bit tricky when she’s singing softer. The first half was a little slow to get going, but the second half was pretty fantastic.

Alex Wagner-Trugman – (I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues by Elton John) – This guy can actually sing, but he’s not really doing it tonight. This performance is jokey, awkward and very confused, going back and forth between a decent karaoke performance and a charicature of a bad lounge singer. Actually it ended up terrible.

Arianna Afsar – (The Winner Takes It All by ABBA) – I know that AI contestants are supposed to make it their own, but some of the changes she made to the song were just plain weird. Some of it was too soft, some of it was too big, and some of it was too off-key.

Ju’not Joyner – (Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s) – Why is he wearing handcuffs? Maybe he’s gonna arrest the worst singers tonight for crimes against the music world? He had a bit of a nice progression going with the song, but I wish it would’ve gotten a little bit bigger at some point.

Kristen McNamara – (Gimme One Reason by Traci Chapman) – This girl cracks me up. She’s got this tiny little speaking voice and such a big and, relatively deep, singing voice. I like her voice a lot, but I dunno if she’ll be remembered for this performance.

Nathaniel Marshall – (I Would Do Anything for Love by Meatloaf) – I haven’t been this apprehensive to watch an Idol performance since Tatiana a couple weeks back. And with good reason: The only performance worse than this I can remember from recent memory is Hugh Grant’s mock singing at the beginning and end of “Music & Lyrics”. Terrible.

Felica Barton – (No One by Alicia Keys) – So, here’s the girl who didn’t make it through until Joanna Pacitti was disqualified. This may be one of the best performances of the night…ironic, isn’t it? Big voice, a bit of a crackle & rasp, and very comfortable on stage.

Scott MacIntyre – (Mandolin Rain by Bruce Horsnby) – Eh, Scott, sorry dude but it sounds more like a so-so Bruce Hornsby imitation than a make-it-your-own Idol performance. I just thought it was kind of ok and boring.

Kendall Beard – (This One’s For the Girls by Martina McBride) – Kendall, you’re a cute girl, and you seem sweet, but this performance is very uneven, alternating between a pageanty-karaoke-ish nightmare and moments of true sweetness.

Jorge Nunez – (Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Elton John) – Ooh, smooth start and some really nice notes right up front. Consistently good throughout, actually. This was a very nice performance.

Lil Rounds – (Be Without You by Mary J Blige) – I do not like this song at all, but Lil’s singing it really, really well. She’s extremely natural on-stage and pretty darn commanding. Probably best of the night (gee, strange that she went last, huh?)
