Aww, what a nice Valentine’s surprise! Two of my favorite things (no, not chocolate & peanut butter) are back together again, according to a blurb on MarketWatch. Starting next year, LEGO will release sets based on three Disney properites: Pixar’s Toy Story and Cars, and the upcoming live-action Disney film Prince of Persia. Which means that Alfred Molina might be rendered in his second mini-fig (the first being as Satipo in 7623 Temple Escape)….but personally I’m more looking forward to a Gemma Arterton version.

It’ll be interesting to see what LEGO does with both Toy Story and Cars, and if there’s some on-screen love headed LEGO’s way in the form of the most bestest of toys being featured in any capacity in the upcoming Toy Story 3, which is also due next year.

LEGO and Disney have done business together before: In 2000 LEGO released a small number of BABY & Duplo Disney-themed sets all centered on Mickey Mouse and other classic Disney characters. Since then, Disney’s had a relationship with…um, another company that also puts out construction toys. Let’s just say that it’s good to see LEGO and Disney working together again and here’s hoping to a lot more cool stuff beyond the three properties mentioned above.
