If there is one bit of news you take away from today, it must be this announcement: DirecTV will release HD TiVO boxes in about a year. Yes, that’s a long time to wait, but if you were stuck on a deserted island and a sentient jellyfish came out of the water and started to speak to you in a formal British accent, saying that you could stay on the island alone, with your only companion being a coconut that looks vaguely like the head of a Super Monkey Ball character OR you could wait a year and be joined by Angelina Jolie, which would you choose? Thought so.

dtv dvr suck ass… them losing tivo was the worst thing that happened to dtv. their sad attempt at a dvr is pathetic.. im sure the HD will be even worse

Now, when you say “will be even worse” what do you mean? Because DTV has had HD non-TiVO DVRs out for a quite a while now. We have one at home and it does suck, although not as badly as you’d think.
But, yeah, when DTV comes out with this TiVO-based HD DVR, all things should be right again in the universe ruled by TV. A year from now.
