EA used the Games Convention in Leipzig to reveal its FMV (yes, they’re still using that term) of its all-star cast reveal for the upcoming Red Alert 3. The cast includes Jenny McCarthy, Tim Curry, George Takei, Jonathan Pryce, J.K. Simmons, Peter Stormare, Kelly Hu, Andrew Divoff and a bunch of others – many extremely talented and having provided some exceptional performances in various TV and movie roles ranging from Lost to The Hunt for Red October to Juno. But those of you worried that these fine actors will lend an air of credibility and quality to a series known for terrible acting in its video sequences need not worry…EA seems to have brought on board the worst director(s) out there to make sure that every scene is a study in over-posed, over-acted, stiff silliness. See for yourself here.

With games like the Half-Life 2 series and Bioshock (among a number of other notable others) providing such excellent voice acting, you’d think that EA would get a clue and hire directors worthy of a cast this talented and diverse to get the type of performances out of them they’re absolutely capable of.

Let’s just hope that the gameplay is more worthy of our time than the live-action sequences.
