Ok, so you may have read our review of Pixar’s latest & greatest, WALL-E, but there’s a bit more to tell.

At the AMC theater where yours truly snuck off to during lunch to catch the flick, they were giving away free WALL-E digital watches with every ticket. My ticket, seeing as how it was before noon, was only $5. Which means I got great robot fun AND a digital watch for about the price of a dinner for 17 people at Taco Bell. Woohoo!

But wait, that’s STILL not all! inside the package with the watch were three “trading cards” for Disney’s upcoming (Sept. 26) Beverly Hills Chihuahua, the movie about, well, you know, chihuahuas. It features the voices of peeps such as Selma Hayek, Drew Barrymore, Cheech Marin, George Lopez and even Placido Domingo. It’s directed by Raja Gosnell who, if you’ll remember, loaded up his OTHER dog movie with a way-too-nice-lookin-Velma (see picture, above).

Previews before WALL-E included the aforementioned chihuahua movie (the Taco Bell references just keep on coming, don’t they?), as well as The Perfect Game, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Pink Panther 2, The Tale of Despereaux and Bolt.

Finally, the short shown before WALL-E started is called Presto, and it’s another fantastic short film from Pixar, about a magician and his magic hat, er, rabbit. Without giving away too much, it’s a super-clever take on the old “instant hole” gag from various Warner Brothers cartoons. And of course it is, once again, a showcase for Pixar’s superb design, animation and storytelling abilities. Even the end credits of the short film are beautifully designed. Make sure you don’t miss it!
