In Movies (~45:00), Tony saw Cloverfield and Lou saw Resident Evil Afterlife in 3D. Miscellaneous movie news follows.

In the Mash-Up segment (~56:45) the news this week includes:

  • Intel is testing the market for upgradeable CPUs…you buy a computer that can have its performance increased by buying an upgrade card and entering a code.
  • A company called Kawada Industries has introduced the HRP4 “humanoid helper robot”. It’s five feet tall and has facial recognition and can actually pick up stuff to help you out around the house. No word yet on price.
  • Kensington’s KeyFolio is a case for the iPad with a built-in Bluetooth keyboard. So, for $100, you can turn your iPad into a netbook.
  • Looxcie is a wearable camera that can record up to four hours of video before you have to download it. It automatically deletes the oldest footage it’s got while you’re recording, so you don’t even have to do that. Push a button, and the last 30 seconds of footage get uploaded to your Android-powered phone.
  • Rumor: Apple is prepping a newspaper subscription service. Duh.
  • Google’s social network might be called Google Me, and might debut as early as this fall.
  • A new digital measuring tool concept called SmartFinger has you put two thimble-like devices on your fingers, after which you can simply span the thing you want to measure with those two fingers and get a precise measurement.
