You know, I’m much more a Lamborghini guy than a Ferrari guy. And it’s a Ferrari, which means it’ll be fast and sexy and red but probably break down a lot. But wow, this is one gorgeous example of automotive design right here folks.

The 458 Italia is replacing the F430 and will be powered by a 4.5-liter V8 outputting 570 horses and generating 398 lb-ft of torque (or if you’re like Jeremy Clarkson, torques). The lucky few will control that powerplant with a 7-speed, dual-clutch gearbox that drives the rear wheels, and all-told, improvements to the powertrain should yield about 17 mpg. That’s about what my Mom’s Land Cruiser gets, so that ain’t so bad, especially considering the 458 will launch to 62mph in about 3.4 seconds and should be capable of a top speed of 202 mph. Which my Mom’s Land Cruiser can’t do.

Drool.
